Director: Pierre Levie
Belgium, 1969, 95', DCP, color,
English with Turkish subtitles

This unique documentary by Pierre Levie reveals life on land and underwater at the Great Barrier Reef.

Filmed during an expedition lasting over five months, it captures not only the rich oceanic flora and fauna but also the technical equipment used to record these rare, now-vanished images.

The film’s theatrical score and dynamic editing, combined with Gérard Corbiau’s aesthetic touch, transform scientific observation into a rhythmic narrative.

The film was restored by the Royal Film Archive of Belgium (CINEMATEK) with the support of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation Film Centre.

Turquerie

Having penetrated the Balkans in the fourteenth century, conquered Constantinople in the fifteenth, and reached the gates of Vienna in the sixteenth, the Ottoman Empire long struck fear into European hearts.

Marcel Duchamp’s Bicycle Wheel

In 1998 Ben Jakober and Yannick Vu collaborated on an obvious remake of Marcel Duchamp’s Roue de Bicyclette, his first “readymade” object. Duchamp combined a bicycle wheel, a fork and a stool to create a machine which served no purpose, subverting accepted norms of art.
