Adapted for the screen from Stephen King's famous novel by renowned director Brian De Palma, this horror classic tells a dark coming-of-age story that delves into the destructive effects of adolescence, bullying, and alienation.

Nominated for two Academy Awards, Carrie follows the extraordinary story of Carrie White, a shy and introverted young girl. Tormented at school by her classmates, Carrie also suffers under the oppressive rule of her devout and domineering mother, Margaret White. As Carrie enters puberty, her strained relationship with society worsens. After a humiliating incident during a physical education class, she becomes the target of cruel ridicule from her peers. This traumatic event triggers the awakening of Carrie's latent telekinetic powers. As she begins to harness these abilities, it fundamentally changes how she confronts the oppression and bullying she has long endured.

The Ottoman Way of Serving Coffee

The Ottoman Way of Serving Coffee

Coffee was served with much splendor at the harems of the Ottoman palace and mansions. First, sweets (usually jam) was served on silverware, followed by coffee serving. The coffee jug would be placed in a sitil (brazier), which had three chains on its sides for carrying, had cinders in the middle, and was made of tombac, silver or brass. The sitil had a satin or silk cover embroidered with silver thread, tinsel, sequin or even pearls and diamonds.
