Chess Dance by Moonlight: Parent-Child Museum Experience

Pera Kids
Ages 7-12

  • July 26, 2025 / 13:30

The workshop invites you to meet Jeux Dramatiques, an intuitive theatrical learning method that supports children's personality development and helps reinforce basic skills!

The workshop, which children participate in with their parents, creates an inclusive playground where the themes of Marcel Dzama: Dancing with the Moon are interconnected and woven together. At the stations of a puzzle, children and their parents explore the artist, his works, the art movements he feels close to, and his place in art history; at other times, they realize the multi-layered meanings of the artist's works through the steps of the Jeux Dramatiques method. Participants choose their roles in the fairy tale, design their costumes from fabrics and improvise their costumes.

Instructor: Alev Peşte
Capacity: 10 kids + 10 adult
Duration:
90 minutes
Fee per workshop
: 500 TL (There will be a charge for children only.)

The event will take place in the Pera Museum.

From two portraits of children…

From two portraits of children…

The Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation’s Orientalist Painting Collection includes two children’s portraits that are often featured in exhibitions on the second floor of the Pera Museum. These portraits both date back to the early 20th century, and were made four years apart. One depicts Prince Abdürrahim Efendi, son of Sultan Abdulhamid II, while the figure portrayed on the other is Nazlı, the daughter of Osman Hamdi Bey.

Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo was born on July 6, 1907 in Coyoacán, Mexico. Exactly 47 years from now, before she died in the same city and her beloved Mexico, many things would happen; she’d meet Diego Rivera, become a world-renowned artist, and allow many of her fans to dress like her on Halloween.
