Eva Stefani, the renowned figure of the Greek avant-garde, is coming to Istanbul for the screening of her 1985 debut film Athens (Athinai) and will conduct a masterclass discussing the documentary’s position in cinema as an independent artistic creation.

The event will take place at the Pera Museum Auditorium as part of the Greek Film Days. Free admissions. The event will be held in English with Turkish consecutive translation. Limited space, drop in, no reservations. 

About Eva Stefani
Eva Stefani is a filmmaker, visual artist, and poet. Using video and Super 8 film, she creates observational documentaries and short visual poems. Among her notable films are Acropolis (2001), The Box (2004), Bathers (2008), Dimitris Papaioannou (2012), Manuscript (2017), Virgin’s Temple (2017), and Days and Nights of Demetra K. (2021). Stefani, whose works have been showcased in international exhibitions, is also the editor of the Film Series at Patakis Publications in Athens and the author of the books Documentary: The Observation Game (2016) and 10 Texts on Documentary (2007). Stefani, who is a cinema professor at the Department of Communication and Media Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, also serves as the director of the Master's program titled "Cultural and Cinematic Studies" within the same department.

The Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo was founded in 1972 as the first Academy of Fine Arts in Bosnia and Herzegovina and became one of the forerunners in Bosnian contemporary art. Academy continued its operation throughout the war years (1992-1995) in besieged Sarajevo and participated in important international art projects.
