The Pera Museum continues its interdisciplinary public program, with a new reading activity organized with the Natama journal of poetry and literary criticism. The magazine, which previously organized poetry readings in different locations, is now trying out a different type of activity. In this gathering, a selection of writings by Alper Öz, Nur Alan, Davut Yücel, Gül Abus Semerci and Enis Akın's; on poetry and the critique of popular culture, will be recited live at the Pera Café.
Parts from Alper Öz’s “I don’t declare that I am a poem”; Nur Alan’s “Poetry in ancient unity, modern separation and post-modern synthesis”; Davut Yücel’s “An example on the risk of institutional critique in poetry”; Gül Abus Semerci’s “Look into my eyes – I am more than a vagina”; and Enis Akın’s “Liberating the poet from his own taste” will be recited during the event.
Alper Öz (1991, Antakya) poet, engineer and redactor at Natama. He writes poetry, book reviews and essays.
Nur Alan (1981, Istanbul) is a poet, engineer and editor at Natama. Her poems and short stories have been published in various literary magazines.
Davut Yücel (1986, Istanbul) is a poet, author, visual communication designer on the editorial board of Natama. His books include The World's Most Modern Zebras (Pan Publishing, 2012); Popes and Cars (Natama Publications, 2016). The exhibitions he participated in include: Camouflage: An Action of Visibility (Artnivo Project Space, 2016); and Jeff Talks (Salt Beyoğlu, 2018)
Gül Abus Semerci (1968, Gölcük) works as a screenwriter for TV and cinema productions. Books: My Dear Husband (story, 1993); Hamdi Bey / A Knight with a Black Cape (story, 1995); An Uneasy Urinal (script, 2000).
Enis Akın (1964, Istanbul) is a poet, author and translator. Since 2013, he has been the head of the editorial board at Natama. Recent books: Stone (collected poems, 2012), Unhappiness (poetry, 2015).
About Natama
The first issue of Natama, then-named as the Hayat Memat Magazine, was published in January 2013. A tri-monthly publication, Netama focuses on poetry, stories, essays, among other literary works. After an uninterrupted run of sixteen issues, the magazine took a year of absence and turned its editorial focus on poetry and poetic criticism.

Organized in collaboration with the Giacometti Foundation, Paris, the exhibition explores Giacometti’s prolific life, most of which the artist led in his studio in Montparnasse, through the works of his early period as well his late work, including one unfinished piece. Devoted to Giacometti’s early works, the first part of the exhibition demonstrates the influence of Giovanni Giacometti, the father of the artist and a Swiss Post-Impressionist painter himself, on Giacometti’s output during these years and his role in his son’s development.

Inspired by the exhibition Istanbuls Today, Today's Stories series continues with Hande Ortaç's story "Felis"! This series gathers short stories written by authors encouraged by the photographs in the exhibition.
