Workshop for Teachers: Emotional First Aid

Teachers

  • February 2, 2024 / 15:30

We know what to do when we fall and hurt ourselves, but do we really know what to do when we are heartbroken, unsuccessful, anxious or facing a challenging life experience? How do we approach such situations so they do not grow out of control in our inner world and support our well-being? In this workshop, after visiting the exhibition Souvenirs of the Future with a guided tour, teachers learn the "Emotional First Aid" skill set, whose three key elements are "self-care, empathy and mindfulness", which they can apply to themselves and their students.

Instructor: Suzi Amado
Capacity: 10 people
Duration: 90 minutes

The event will take place at the Pera Museum (face-to-face).

The Battle of Varna

The Battle of Varna

Over the years of 1864 through 1876, Stanisław Chlebowski served Sultan Abdülaziz in Istanbul as his court painter. As it was, Abdülaziz disposed of considerable artistic talents of his own, and he actively involved himself in Chlebowski’s creative process, suggesting ideas for compositions –such as ballistic pieces praising the victories of Turkish arms.

Józef Brandt harboured a fascination for the history of 17th century Poland, and his favourite themes included ballistic scenes and genre scenes before and after the battle proper –all and sundry marches, returns, supply trains, billets and encampments, patrols, and similar motifs illustrating the drudgery of warfare outside of its culminating moments.
