Surprise Character on My Canvas

Pera Kids
Ages 7-12

  • September 28, 2024 / 13:30
  • November 2, 2024 / 13:30

On a guided tour of Calculations and Coincidences, the children are inspired by the algorithms that Vera Molnár, one of the exhibition's artists, created in the early years of her artistic practice by rolling dice. The children are given a table of matching shapes numbered 1-6, roll a certain number of dice, and draw on a piece of paper the piece opposite to the dice they roll on the boards in their hands. At the end, the children combine these pieces to create a surprise character on the canvas.

Capacity: 12 people
Duration: 75 minutes
Fee per workshop: 250 TL

The event will take place at the Pera Museum (face-to-face).

Andy Warhol’s Screen Tests

Andy Warhol’s Screen Tests

Between 1963 and 1966 Andy Warhol worked at making film portraits of all sorts of characters linked to New York art circles. Famous people and anonymous people were filmed by Andy Warhol’s 16 mm camera, for almost four minutes, without any instructions other than ‘to get in front of the camera’.

Nam June Paik Video Art’s Pioneer

Nam June Paik Video Art’s Pioneer

Nam June Paik was video art’s pioneer (1932 –2006). It is interesting that while Warhol and Nameth were experimenting with psychedelic happenings that combined rock, film and performance, the video art pioneers Nam June Paik, Stephen Beck, Eric Siegel and Steina Vasulka were researching in a similar direction.

Transition to Sculpture

Transition to Sculpture

If Manolo Valdés’s paintings convey a search for materiality, his sculpture does so even more. Today, sculpture has taken over most of his workspace, his time, and his efforts.
