Sitting Outside the Rules: Chair Design

Pera Kids
Ages 7-12

  • August 3, 2024 / 13:30

Will the future houses continue to be influenced by the Bauhaus design school that we are used to seeing in modern homes today? In the workshop inspired by the exhibition PƎR Reverse, the children learn about designs at different scales based on the understanding of interiors developed at the Bauhaus and share their experiences about the chairs they often use. After producing 1:1 scale drawings of different forms of seating, each child designs their dream chair for the future home by using simple geometric shapes prepared in advance. At the end of the workshop, each participant presents their design and diplays their chair.

Instructor: İpek Kay
Capacity: 12 people
Duration: 90 minutes
Fee per workshop: 250 TL

The event will take place in the Pera Museum (face-to-face).

Giacometti & the Human Figure

Giacometti & the Human Figure

Giacometti worked nonstop on his sculptures, either from nature or from memory, trying to capture the universal facial expressions.

Giacometti’s Final Works

Giacometti was selected for three important retrospectives at the New York Museum of Modern Art, the Tate Gallery in London and the Louisiana Museum of Art in Denmark, all of which were a great success.

Paris Without End (1959-1965)

In the 60s, Alberto Giacometti paid homage to Paris, the city where he lived, by drawing its streets, cafés, and more private places like his studio and the apartment of his wife, Annette. These drawings would make up his last book, Paris sans fin (Paris Without End).
