Seeds of Stories: Family Tales

Pera Adult

  • September 1, 2023 / 19:00

Inspired by the artist Isabel Muñoz's belief in the power of photography to tell "untold stories", this workshop explores the roots of storytelling as Muñoz herself tampers with the mysteries from and around Göbeklitepe. Participants reflect on different dynamics of writing and storytelling, drawing upon the stories and folktales traditionally told in families and memories from the family's past. They are invited to become the narrators of their own stories, breathing life into their constructed narratives while preserving the essential functions of family stories.

Note: Participants are encouraged to think of a family story they have heard, a fairy tale told in the past, or bring a family heirloom object or an old family photograph to the workshop.

Instructors: Ekin Can Göksoy & Mete Özel
Capacity: 10 people
Duration: 90 minutes
Fee per workshop: 200 TL

The event will take place at the Pera Museum (face-to-face).

We thought of the idea of marriage simultaneously, we smiled simultaneously, blinking and opening our eyes in unison.

The wind blows, rubbing against my legs made of layers of metal and wires, swaying the leaves of grass that have shot up from the cracks in the tarmac, and going off to the windows that look like the eyes of dead children in the wrecked buildings that seem to be everywhere as far as the eye can see.
