Luminescent Colors: Bedside Lamp

Pera Kids
Ages 4-6

  • January 29, 2025 / 10:30

Children are inspired by Gizella Rákóczy's watercolors, in which the same color is layered in different numbers, and the resulting light and dark tones diversify the compositions. After examining these layered works, which intersect with each other to create new colors, the children design a cylindrical lamp by gluing colored transparent papers on top of each other in various ways. At the end of the workshop, children experience the surprise colors emitted by their lamps by placing electronic candles inside their designs.

Capacity: 10 people
Duration: 60 minutes
Fee per workshop: 300 TL

The event will take place at the Pera Museum.

Istanbul’s Historical Peninsula in 18th and 19th Century Paintings

Istanbul’s Historical Peninsula in 18th and 19th Century Paintings

With the Topkapı Palace, the center of political authority until the 19th century, and many other examples of classical Ottoman and Byzantine architecture included in its premise the Historical Peninsula is the heart of the Empire.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Pera Museum invites artist Benoît Hamet to reinterpret key pieces from its collections, casting a humourous eye over ‘historical’ events, both imagined and factual.

The Golden Horn

The Golden Horn

When regarding the paintings of Istanbul by western painters, Golden Horn has a distinctive place and value. This body of water that separates the Topkapı Palace and the Historical Peninsula, in which monumental edifices are located, from Galata, where westerners and foreign embassies dwell, is as though an interpenetrating boundary.
