Language of the Image, Form of the Word

Pera Adult

  • June 20, 2025 / 19:00

Participants who visit the Samih Rifat: “Much Is to Be Done” exhibition are inspired by Samih Rifat's notebooks, notes, drawings and photographs, and the personal and poetic ways of relating to the city. In this workshop, which explores the link between observation and memory, participants design personal memory notebooks in which they interpret their urban experiences through written and visual expressions.

Details encountered in the city, small moments that would not escape the attention of a flaneur, and triggers of remembrance come together in the participants' notebooks. The notebooks that emerge from the workshop reflect both individual memory and collective perception of the city. After the workshop, these notebooks continue to be enriched with new observations and memories with every step taken in the city.

Instructor: Damla Yalçın
Capacity: 12 people
Duration: 90 minutes
Fee per workshop: 500 TL

The event will take place at the Pera Museum.

Giacometti’s Final Works

Giacometti’s Final Works

Giacometti was selected for three important retrospectives at the New York Museum of Modern Art, the Tate Gallery in London and the Louisiana Museum of Art in Denmark, all of which were a great success.

Paris Without End (1959-1965)

Paris Without End (1959-1965)

In the 60s, Alberto Giacometti paid homage to Paris, the city where he lived, by drawing its streets, cafés, and more private places like his studio and the apartment of his wife, Annette. These drawings would make up his last book, Paris sans fin (Paris Without End).

Seaside Leisure

Seaside Leisure

Istanbul’s Seaside Leisure: Nostalgia from Sea Baths to Beaches exhibition brought together photographs, magazines, comics, objects, and books from various private and institutional collections, and told a nostalgic story while also addressing the change and socialization of the norms of how Istanbulites used their free time. Istanbul’s Seaside Leisure was a documentary testament of the radical transformations in the Republic’s lifestyle.
