Creative Awareness and Visual Literacy: Reading a Picture

Pera Adult

  • February 28, 2025 / 19:00

Every painting has a message to convey. Paintings hold multiple layers of meaning, including the artist's thoughts, emotions, historical events, or ideas related to a subject. In this workshop, participants will acquire knowledge of visual literacy - one way to be present in the moment. While exploring various works in the museum, they will learn the distinction between simply looking and truly seeing. Through this experience, they will gain the ability to view from different perspectives, develop empathy and connection, and appreciate the creativity and potential of humanity.

Instructor: Umut Nur Sungur
Capacity: 15 people
Duration: 90 minutes
Fee per workshop: 400 TL

The event will take place at the Pera Museum.

“A nameless Egyptian fresco, an African idol or a vase from Crete: we should behold Pirosmani’s art among them. Only this way it is possible to conceive it genuinely … …You see Pirosmani – you believe in Georgia”.
