About Lepidus Ensemble
Lepidus Ensemble was formed as a string quartet in 2011 by founding members Öykü Koçoğlu and Hande Küden. Performing both in Turkey and abroad, Lepidus first appeared as the “Lepidus Quartet,” together with Hande Küden and Öykü Koçoğlu, deciding to continue their concerts and projects as an “ensemble” when Hande Küden’s career took her to Germany to join the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

Following its first concert at Ankara University, Lepidus won First Prize in the chamber music competition held in 2012 at Izmir Yaşar University, judged by a jury composed of Prof. Lucas David, Dr. Kürşad Terci, Christos Grimpas, Yorgos Kanalidis, Vittorio Bresciani, Nicos Zafranas, and Francesco Diodovich. The group was invited to perform in concerts in the UK and Italy.

The group has performed at Borusan Music House, Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall, Ahmed Adnan Saygun Cultural Center, Notre Dame de Sion Concert Hall, İş Sanat, Akbank Sanat, Akbank Jazz Festival, Çukurova University Yalçın Yüreğir Hall, Sabancı University, Türkan Saylan Cultural Center, Tekfur Palace, Boğaziçi University Albert Long Hall, Koç University Sevgi Gönül Cultural Center, Kadıköy Municipality Kalamış Festival, and at Hillside and Yeldeğirmeni Art Center under the auspices of the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts. In 2012, Lepidus represented our country with two concerts in South Korea. The group was invited to Serbia to perform with Gülsin Onay.

In 2017, they performed their version of the contemporary work by Jeremy Woodruff, “Occupation for String Quartet,” which was a part of the “From Istanbul” album appearing under the Lila Music label. In 2021, the group represented Turkey in Spain’s “Eurocities Early Music Day.”

Istanbul-Paris-Istanbul: Mario Prassinos

Istanbul-Paris-Istanbul: Mario Prassinos

Mario Prassinos liked Istanbul more than the current Istanbulites of today. It is obvious that you can understand this from the article written by her daughter Catherine Prassinos in the Pera Museum's book on the artist.

Reminiscences of Motifs

Reminiscences of Motifs

As artisanship became a part of artistic practices with the blurring of art and craft, the use of traditional motifs has also flourished. In this context, how are these motifs currently structured or designed beyond their traditional connotations?

The Success of an Artist

The Success of an Artist

Pera Museum presents an exhibition of French artist Félix Ziem, one of the most original landscape painters of the 19th century. The exhibition Wanderer on the Sea of Light presents Ziem as an artist who left his mark on 19th century painting and who is mostly known for his paintings of Istanbul and Venice, where the city and the sea are intertwined.
