Curator's Tour

For International Museum Week, Pera Museum is organising a free exhibition tour for a limited number of participants with the curators Serdar Darendeliler and Refik Akyüz for the exhibition Istanbuls Today, which offers a comprehensive look into contemporary visual narratives from various Istanbuls that are shaped and experienced concurrently with the hope of creating a layered and innovative view of Istanbul's present.
The photography exhibition, including thematic urban landscapes, provides a viewing space for the latest unexhibited works of 11 photographers who live in Istanbul with varying relations with the city and who create art in their own unique styles.
The free guided tour is in Turkish. Museum entrance tickets must be purchased separately. Our quota is limited. To join the tour, you can make a reservation via resepsiyon@peramuzesi.org.tr e-mail address.

Istanbuls Today is a photography exhibition that offers a comprehensive look into contemporary visual narratives from various Istanbuls that are shaped and experienced concurrently with the hope of creating a layered and innovative view of Istanbul's present.

Our Doublethink Double vision exhibition’s title alludes to George Orwell’s seminal work 1984 and presents a selection that includes Tracey Emin, Marcel Dzama, Anselm Kiefer, Bruce Nauman, Raymond Pettibon, and Thomas Ruff, as well as Turkish artists, tracing the steps of pluralistic thought through works of art.
Inspired by the exhibition And Now the Good News, which focusing on the relationship between mass media and art, we prepared horoscope readings based on the chapters of the exhibition. Using the popular astrological language inspired by the effects of the movements of celestial bodies on people, these readings with references to the works in the exhibition make fictional future predictions inspired by the horoscope columns that we read in the newspapers with the desire to receive good news about our day.
Pera Museum, in collaboration with Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), is one of the main venues for this year’s 15th Istanbul Biennial from 16 September to 12 November 2017.
