Pera Museum’s talk and performance series Electronic Crossovers invites you to explore the fields that interact with electronic music!
A fruit of collaboration with Istanbul-based musical collective ÆVOM, “Electronic Crossovers” looks at a range of fields and disciplines that feed on and interact with electronic music, technology, literature, cinema, environment, psychology, sociology, computer games, politics, urban transformation, nature and philosophy to name a few.
At the first event of the series in 2020, Burcu Yaşin will invite us to reflect on urban transformation with reference to sound and after her talk, Deniz Erden invites the audience, through her performance, to imagine the sounds of a quarter that is still under urban renewal.

Deniz Erden was born in Eskişehir in 1993. She began her studies at a conservatoire part time in 2003, full time in 2004 with pianist Robert Farkas at the Anadolu University State Conservatory. For her undergraduate degree, she worked with Professor Hülya Tarcan at the State Conservatory of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. During the same period, she also worked with Associate Professor Elif Şahin-Nesweda and with Professor Cornelis Witthoefft at the Stuttgart Musikhochschule. She obtained her master’s degree in 2018 from the State Conservatory of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, with research focusing on music in the 20th century. Her advisors were Professor Hülya Tarcan and Associate Professor Ayça Aytuğ. She then went onto serve as correpetitor at the Opera Department of the same university. She discovered composition with improvisations at university. In a free world she created on her own, she began to compose piano music in ambient style. In 2018, she obtained a certificate in Electronic Music Production from Bahçeşehir University, which followed activities in soundscape. She first performed at “A Station in Haydarpaşa” event as part of the Istanbul Soundscape Project. In August, she launched her own project, “Your Planet Calling,” contributing to raising environmental awareness and protection. Deniz continues to work in both fields. Following the Turkish première of Hideki Kozakura’s “Barcelona Duo” in February 2018, she gave two solo recitals in Tokyo and Nagoya in 2019, with pieces by Turkish and Japanese contemporary composers and Haruyuki Suzuki’s “Ringlet” world première. Deniz is a member of Ensemble Flâneur.
What is ÆVOM?
ÆVOM is an İstanbul based, borderless and independent collective organizing arts, culture and music events in different venues.
Pera Museum, in collaboration with Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), is one of the main venues for this year’s 15th Istanbul Biennial from 16 September to 12 November 2017. Through the biennial, we will be sharing detailed information about the artists and the artworks.
A closer look at the life and works of the artist Barbara Kruger, who is represented with two striking works in the exhibition And Now The Good News, a selection of works from the Nobel Collection.
It is understood from Evliya Çelebi’s well-known Book of Travels that the history of sea baths goes as far back as the 17th century; their acceptance and popularization take place in mid-19th century as a result of Westernization, among other things.
