Color Loop: Pendulum Painting
“He argued that the mind postulates external objects in order to explain the regularity of experiences: repeated or regularly occurring similar experiences encourage us to make assumptions, to connect dots, and draw conclusions.” David Hume (1711-76), British philosopher
Dreaming is the essence of the experience Liang Wei strives to create. At this workshop inspired by Liang Wei’s works to adopt STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) as an alternative method to today’s world of virtual reality created by cutting-edge technological tools, we apply the pendulum painting technique and learn about gravity. We observe a pendulum’s repetitive, regular orbital motion. We experience how we can switch between orbits through timing and colors. We enter a world where our mind transforms lines into patterns, a world dominated by our imaginative and sensory experiences.
Note: We kindly ask you to come wearing comfortable clothes such as tracksuits, leggings, t-shirts and socks.
As we have limited space at the workshop space, children’s works will be exhibited digitally. Also exhibited at the workshop area are a selection of the works from the summer workshops.
