Animals on the Imaginary Island
Have you ever been to an island? How would be your dream island? With which animals would you like to cohabit there? Since 2004, Scottish artist Charles Avery bases his practice on the definition of a fictional island. With inspiration from the artist’s glass installations he created exclusively for the Biennial, a combination of time-space and existence themes, we design 3D animal figures with papier-maché. Next, we build a home for our animals, an imaginary island made of boxes, cardboard, felt, etc.
