Talk
April 18, 2018 / 19:00
Pera Museum and hep kitap Publications are collaboratively presenting “The Subtle Art of Fiction”, a series of talks with writers, focusing on their writing style, methods and creative process. In this talk, the book’s editor Hakan Bıçakçı will be in conversation with Fuat Sevimay, Murat Özyaşar, and Yavuz Ekinci.
Recently published by hep kitap, the Turkish book Uydurmanın İncelikleri: Kurmaca Üzerine Kişisel Yaklaşımlar (The Subtle Art of Fiction) is a great resource not only for those who intend to write, but also for those who want to take a glimpse into the creative approach of their favorite writer. “The Subtleties of Storytelling” is based on the published book and features writers such as Başar Başarır, Doğu Yücel, Fuat Sevimay, Hakan Günday, İsmail Güzelsoy, Jale Sancak, Mahir Ünsal Eriş, Mario Levi, Mine Söğüt, Murat Özyaşar, Müge İplikçi, Nermin Yıldırım, Seray Şahiner, and Yavuz Ekinci. The book includes examples from world literature, writing tips, and most importantly candid responses. Some like to start by planning their characters in detail, while others let them develop within the course of the story. Some focus on what they tell, others on how they tell it. Some believe character is the king, while others swear by the plot. Some experience writer’s block occasionally, while others feel the need to control their overwhelming urge to write.
The talk will be in Turkish, free admissions and limited seating capacity. No reservations.
