Pera Kids, as part of the exhibitions Giorgio de Chirico: The Enigma of the World and Memory and Continuity: A Selection from the Huma Kabakcı Collection, presented creative and fun workshops for the age groups of 4-6 and 7-12, between the dates March 6 and April 10, 2016.
During the visit to the exhibition of the artist Giorgio de Chirico, a pioneer of metaphysical art and one of the most extraordinary painters of 20th century, children gained knowledge on art movements, metaphysical art and Surrealism. The workshops highlighted various concepts and techniques such as assemblage, decal, perspective, pastels and acrylic paint, cardboard, and foam board materials
Tracing the creation of an art collection through its two family generations, Memory and Continuity: A Selection from the Huma Kabakcı Collection’s exhibition workshops offered children basic knowledge on collecting art and forming a collection. A variety of techniques and materials were explored, such as matchboxes recycled objects, charcoal and acrylic paint. They had a chance to be inquisitive, research, preserve, collect, and develop their sense of responsibility through the idea of collecting.
